I have lived in Hamilton for only about 3 years after moving here from Brantford. I was invited by local photographer to join a photography walk-about. We were to make our way through some well traveled areas of the city. For me, participating is simply to get my skill level up and learn from more seasoned professionals and get to know other people in Hamilton.
It was a picture perfect day and hot. I don’t recall seeing a cloud in the sky when I set out with my Nikon D7200 and my few lenses. We met at Tim Hortons on Bay Street at Cannon Street. When all had arrived, there were four of us. And over the next 4 hours or so, we crisscrossed the city downtown core ending at Bayfront Park.
There are a few things that I noticed about this great city. First of all, it is a growing beautiful and historic city. Everywhere we walked, there was construction as either new structures were being built or existing structures were being renovated. Hamilton is growing!
Secondly, Hamilton is a diverse city. In fact, I was surprised at how many young people were out and about early on a Sunday, attending cafe’s and restaurants.
Lastly, my experience was this shoot day, and still is that Hamilton is a friendly city. Everywhere I walked, people said hello or struck up a conversation with me.
I have attached a few of the images I took from the photography walk-about.
