Celebrating the spirit of community at this neighborhood festival.

Lorenzo Berardinetti was present at the Taste Of The Woods event at the Warden Woods Community Centre on July 23rd, 2016.  This was the festival’s 9th year.  The Taste of the Woods Festival featured multicultural food from the community’s own Vesta Catering Services.  It also included live entertainment, games, vendors, prizes, community exhibits and more. Back for another year, local youth and amateur entertainers strutted their stuff on stage in “Scarborough’s Got Talent”. The festival is designed to strengthen community engagement in neighborhoods that face higher than average levels of low income, unemployment and underemployment, and language barriers.

This year’s event celebrated 50 years of Early Childhood programming.  This year also recognized Trillium funding towards our Active Boost project and our Peace4Scarborough initiative.

“I am pleased to see that the Ontario Trillium Foundation has made such a significant investment in the Scarborough Southwest community. The benefits of MURALI and Active Boost in terms of skill-building, healthy living, cultural enrichment, and community engagement for residents both here and across our city are encouraging. I’m looking forward to seeing the positive results from these initiatives in the coming years”. – Lorenzo Berardinetti, MPP, Scarborough Southwest.
