The Garden Project – Breaking Ground

Brantford Garden ProjectIt has been about 5 months that we have been planning The Garden Project and finally the time has arrived to prepare the ground for planting.  In addition, we wanted to encourage others to plant a garden this year and where possible, commit to give 10% of your produce to the local Food Bank.  The local Food Bank here in Brantford welcomes produce donations especially in the Summer months when Food Bank donations decrease.

The forecast asked for rain and I was not sure how many volunteers would come out.  We arrived at the location at about 10AM to find Mark Dubecki already getting ready for our arrival.  Shortly after, our first volunteer arrived and then three others.  It was the perfect group and a great opportunity to meet some very cool folks.  It was a workout for sure and by 1PM, the first phase of the garden preparation was completed.

I want to thank everyone for coming out, Eric, Alfero and the others.  And I invite anyone who wants to take part in The Garden Project as a volunteer, please contact us.  If you would like to donate a portion of your garden’s yield this year to the Food Bank, please let us know so we can gauge the impact the project is having.  You can reach us at 877-234-3722 or locally in Brantford, 519-900-5565.
